The Diagnostic Medical Sonography program at 17cÍøÒ³°æ Salem Campus is always willing to investigate any complaint against any aspect of the program and will try to resolve the complaint immediately. All complaints will be handled in a confidential manner.
- Resources: Complaints can be made to the following sources, depending on the content of the complaint:
- Complaints at the Salem campus may be made to the diagnostic medical sonography program director, diagnostic medical sonography clinical coordinator, vice dean or campus complaint officer.
- Complaints at the clinical education setting may be made to the clinical coordinator, clinical instructor, radiology department director or the sonography program director at Kent Salem.
- Complaints received from these sources will then be given to the program director or the advisory committee or to the Complaint Adviser for the campus. Students should address the concern beginning at the program level whenever possible
- Methods:
- Open Door Policy: The program director and the faculty have an open-door policy that allows students to discuss any issues they may be having or to make a complaint about the diagnostic medical sonography program or faculty. Student issues may result in a referral to the campus counseling services and/or academic services. The student is expected first to review the matter with the course instructor in an attempt to resolve the issue immediately. While it is desirable that student complaints against the program be first handled at the program level, the student also has the option to speak with the Vice Dean or the Dean of the campus or may consult with the student ombuds: /studentlife/student-ombuds
- Evaluations: Course evaluations are available for a student to complete at the end of the course. These evaluations can provide an avenue for the student to provide anonymous feedback on an instructor and/or course. Individual course evaluations are made available to the instructor 14 days after the official course end date per Banner.
- Student Formal Complaint Process:
- If attempts at informal resolution are unsuccessful, the student may lodge a formal complaint by submitting said complaint, in writing, to a local administrator. The student may make a formal complaint to the Vice Dean about a problem they are unable to discuss with the faculty of the program. More information can be found here:
/policyreg/administrative-policy-and-procedure-student-academic-complaints - The program and/or the institution will follow the Administrative policy and procedure (4-02.3) and timeline for student academic complaints.
