Enology students of 17cҳ’s Ashtabula Campus are leaving a lasting impact with their high-quality luxury wines.
Local wine connoisseur and writer for the Akron Beacon Journal Phil Masturzo recalled in his article “Fun food pairings make KSU wines shine,” that upon sampling two 17cҳ Ashtabula Wines, he thought, why not enjoy a full glass?
“I had a glass of the Sunburst Riesling … A few more sips of the wine had me thinking that I could do this ‘All Night Long,’” Mr. Masturzo wrote. “I couldn’t be more impressed with the wine, a nice easy drinker with elderberry and blackberry flavors.”
Thanks to 17cҳ Ashtabula’s partnership with Laurello Vineyards in nearby Geneva, enology students have had the opportunity to enhance their educational experience by participating in grape growing and winemaking.
17cҳ Ashtabula is home to Ohio’s only winemaking program, offering its students hands-on experience.
“So Flash some local pride and give these wines a try. I’ll bet you’ll be surprised how good they are,” Mr. Masturzo wrote.
17cҳ Ashtabula Wines are sold at Campus Wine Cellar and Kent Cheesemonger.
