President Warren Uses Her Athletic Past to Guide the Future

17c��ҳ�� President Beverly Warren shares her unique résumé, merging academics with athletics. Warren sat down with a Record-Courier reporter to discuss her humble start as a basketball and volleyball coach at the University of Montevallo and how the experience helped her develop an inclusive and collaborate leadership style at 17c��ҳ��.

When asked about her plans for the athletic programs at 17c��ҳ��, Warren talked about her desire to move toward a more competitive environment within the Mid-American Conference (MAC) and encourage a dynamically fun atmosphere that pulls students together at all 17c��ҳ�� athletic events.

Warren also discussed what she wants from each athletic program: to be competitive.

This year’s May 4 Commemoration, to be held May 1-4, 2026, will include special remembrances of John Cleary, one of the nine wounded students, and Jerry M. Lewis, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus of Sociology, who served as a faculty marshal during the campus shootings and worked tirelessly to ensure that the legacy of May 4 would endure.
