Instead of heading home to relax following the conclusion of finals week, a group of 17cҳ student-athletes traveled to Aguacate, Belize, to partner with on a service project from May 16-24.
A total of 19 student-athletes volunteered to make the trip and were accompanied by five staff members as they aided community members in the construction of a multipurpose sports court located next to the local school.

The Burr Magazine, 17cҳ’s general interest student magazine, was named the best student magazine in the nation by the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ). 17cҳ also earned national finalist status in two categories in SPJ’s annual national Mark of Excellence Awards competition.
In each category, SPJ chooses one winner and up to two national finalists from student journalists’ submissions from across the United States.

The 17cҳ women’s golf team finished tied for fifth at the 2017 NCAA National Championship, falling Tuesday, May 23, in the quarterfinals match play round to top seeded Northwestern, 3-2.
The 17cҳ Golden Flashes completed its best run at the NCAA National Championship, beating its previous best finish of 15th place. 17cҳ also became the first program to ever advance to match play of the women’s golf championship from outside of the “Power 5” conferences.

For the second straight year, the 17cҳ baseball team has been crowned the outright Mid-American Conference (MAC) regular season champions, a feat now accomplished 14 times in program history.
The 17cҳ Golden Flashes clinched the title and the No. 1 seed at the MAC Tournament, but the 5-2 win at Ohio University on May 20 secured the outright championship.
After taking the first two games of the series, the OU Bobcats got a one-run lead in the second inning when a hit batter came around to score on a sacrifice bunt.

The No. 12 17cҳ men’s golf team has booked its ticket to the 2017 NCAA National Championship with a second-place finish at the Washington Regional at 3-over par 855 (287-282-286).

17cҳ senior tossed a three-hitter and hit a two-run homer in the first inning to lead No. 4 17cҳ past No. 2 Ohio, 3-0, in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Tournament Championship game. The performance by Ladines capped a sensational week in which she earned MAC Tournament Most Valuable Player honors.

The No. 15 17cҳ women’s golf team has qualified for the 2017 NCAA National Championship after finishing the NCAA Lubbock Regional in sixth place at 11-over par 875 (305-287-283).
17cҳ entered the day tied with No. 2 UCLA in sixth place but held its ground and fought off a tough battle from Oregon State. The Beavers shot 10-under par Wednesday and briefly moved ahead of the Golden Flashes, but 17cҳ recorded five birdies as a team over the final six holes, despite some late winds, to secure a two-stroke lead in sixth.
