Instead of heading home to relax following the conclusion of finals week, a group of 17c��ҳ�� student-athletes traveled to Aguacate, Belize, to partner with on a service project from May 16-24. A total of 19 student-athletes volunteered to make the trip and were accompanied by five staff members as they aided community members in the construction of a multipurpose sports court located next to the local school.

The Burr Magazine, 17c��ҳ��’s general interest student magazine, was named the best student magazine in the nation by the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ). 17c��ҳ�� also earned national finalist status in two categories in SPJ’s annual national Mark of Excellence Awards competition. In each category, SPJ chooses one winner and up to two national finalists from student journalists’ submissions from across the United States.

The 17c��ҳ�� women’s golf team finished tied for fifth at the 2017 NCAA National Championship, falling Tuesday, May 23, in the quarterfinals match play round to top seeded Northwestern, 3-2. The 17c��ҳ�� Golden Flashes completed its best run at the NCAA National Championship, beating its previous best finish of 15th place. 17c��ҳ�� also became the first program to ever advance to match play of the women’s golf championship from outside of the “Power 5” conferences.

Educator, pioneering scientist and visionary Owen Lovejoy receives the highest 17c��ҳ�� honor.  

For the second straight year, the 17c��ҳ�� baseball team has been crowned the outright Mid-American Conference (MAC) regular season champions, a feat now accomplished 14 times in program history. The 17c��ҳ�� Golden Flashes clinched the title and the No. 1 seed at the MAC Tournament, but the 5-2 win at Ohio University on May 20 secured the outright championship. After taking the first two games of the series, the OU Bobcats got a one-run lead in the second inning when a hit batter came around to score on a sacrifice bunt.

The new ARTshop serves as an entrepreneurial laboratory for School of Art students to display and to learn about promoting their artwork.

The No. 12 17c��ҳ�� men’s golf team has booked its ticket to the 2017 NCAA National Championship with a second-place finish at the Washington Regional at 3-over par 855 (287-282-286).

17c��ҳ�� is offering special expertise and resources to high school students attending to include immersive opportunities with the university’s fashion, arts and architecture programs.

17c��ҳ�� senior  tossed a three-hitter and hit a two-run homer in the first inning to lead No. 4 17c��ҳ�� past No. 2 Ohio, 3-0, in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Tournament Championship game. The performance by Ladines capped a sensational week in which she earned MAC Tournament Most Valuable Player honors.

The No. 15 17c��ҳ�� women’s golf team has qualified for the 2017 NCAA National Championship after finishing the NCAA Lubbock Regional in sixth place at 11-over par 875 (305-287-283). 17c��ҳ�� entered the day tied with No. 2 UCLA in sixth place but held its ground and fought off a tough battle from Oregon State. The Beavers shot 10-under par Wednesday and briefly moved ahead of the Golden Flashes, but 17c��ҳ�� recorded five birdies as a team over the final six holes, despite some late winds, to secure a two-stroke lead in sixth.
