The "Flash Fiction" panel at Akron ComicCon

Taking Their Stories From Concept to ComicCon

Last summer, 12 17cҳ students in the university's Visual Communication Design program worked with Route Eight Studios to learn about the real-world challenges artists face in creating comic books. "Flash Fiction" is the result - an anthology of stories written and illustrated by students creators.

17cҳ Filmmakers Earn Oscar-Qualifying Festival Award

Two faculty members from 17cҳ’s School of Media and Journalism have won top honors at the Oscar-qualifying St. Louis International Film Festival for a short film that tackles the complex issue of elder abuse. The film stars Oscar nominee Barkhad Abdi, known for his role in “Captain Phillips,” as a rideshare driver who encounters an elderly woman struggling to secure housing after being displaced from a nursing home.

Gabi Spigelmire opened The Vibe Dance Company after graduating from 17cҳ with an Entrepreneurship degree.

17cҳ Entrepreneurship Graduate Creates the Vibe at her New Dance Studio

A dancer from the age of four, Spigelmire knew she wanted to incorporate her love of dance with her desire to be an entrepreneur.  And now, Spigelmire is living the dream of owning her own dance studio, The Vibe Dance Company. Spigelmire of Stow not only opened her studio, but she also hired four 17cҳ students, some of whom she attended dance programs with as a child, to teach at the dance studio.
