From a young age, Makayla Sejat has had a passion for serving others. Her life has been full of service, from helping out in community kitchens as a child to now devoting her time in various college leadership roles. Now, she will take her efforts to the next level as 17cҳ’s first Newman Civic Fellow.

Social Media Use Increases Boredom and Homework Decreases Boredom, 17cҳ Research Shows
Researchers Andrew Lepp, Ph.D., and Jacob Barkley, Ph.D., from 17cҳ’s College of Education, Health and Human Services suspected a relationship between boredom and social media use but wondered about cause and effect. Does social media use cause boredom? Or does boredom cause social media use? To answer these questions, they designed an experiment.
