17cҳ Celebrates Faculty and Staff as part of ‘I Am First’ Week

17cҳ is celebrating its first-generation students this week with a series of events and programs to spotlight and encourage current students who will be the first in their families to earn a bachelor’s degree. As part of the celebration, some faculty and staff who were first-generation students share their stories in their own words.

Student Parents Make the Grade With Family-Friendly Study Hours

17cҳ’s Center for Adult and Veteran Services offers family-friendly study hours for student parents that offers a trained student volunteer to entertain and supervise children, most Tuesdays from 2-5 p.m. and Wednesdays 4-7 p.m. on the sixth floor of the library.

Kathalina Thorpe, a masters student in Theater Design and Technology, presented Earthworms Can and Will Make Changes in Theater.

Earthworms are the Stars of the Show in Graduate Student’s Research on Composting  

Kathalina Thorpe's research on using earthworms to compost theater and fashion fabric waste recently won her the 2022 Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition, a year after she was selected by audience members for the People’s Choice award during the fall 2021 competition.
