Northeast Ohio’s unpredictable and sometimes extreme weather conditions provide excellent training scenarios for 17c��ҳ�� student pilots.

Tara L. Conley, Ed.D., assistant professor in the School of Media and Journalism, is being recognized for her documentary “Dry Bones” in coverage from Ideastream and The Chronicle-Telegram after Karamu House and The Greater Cleveland Film Commission hosted a sold-out screening of the film.  

Jerry M. Lewis, Ph.D., 17c��ҳ�� Professor Emeritus of Sociology, who served as a faculty marshal during the May 4, 1970, campus shootings and later worked tirelessly to ensure that the legacy of May 4 would endure, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, at his home in Maine. He was 88.  

Practical experience – and hustle – took recent 17c��ҳ�� graduate Austin Monte from producing events on campus to bringing the world the 2026 Winter Olympics for NBC Sports.

First-year student Johan Kristoff will be among nine 17c��ҳ�� students who will embark on a groundbreaking spring break journey to Florence, Italy, marking the first international experience designed specifically for students to discover their academic path. 

Marcello Fantoni, Ph.D., vice president for global education and interim dean of the Honors College at 17c��ҳ��, was recently featured on WAKR Radio’s “Ray Horner Morning Show” to discuss the education-abroad programs, student support and his life-changing experiences abroad.

As demand for behavioral health professionals continues to rise across Ohio and the nation, 17c��ҳ�� is preparing graduates to not just enter the field right away, but to advance, lead and make a lasting impact in their communities. For three 17c��ҳ�� alumni — Cassandra Galloway, Victoria Giegerich and Jason Joyce — their paths may differ slightly, but their stories illustrate how 17c��ҳ�� connects education to real-world outcomes.

The 17c��ҳ�� Black Alumni Chapter and Black United Students are sponsoring a day-long celebration in honor of Black History Month, which was founded at the Kent Campus.

How do animals cope when oxygen levels suddenly drop? That question is at the center of research led by Sangeet Lamichhaney, Ph.D., associate professor and MA coordinator in the Department of Biological Sciences.

Meet Karissa Wahl, a member of the Honors College and a second-year public health major with junior standing from Mansfield, Ohio. She has a concentration in allied health and also minors in psychology, disability studies and community inclusion.   

A group of 17c��ҳ�� students will spend their spring break learning about the business of the Olympics, spending time in Italy and Greece and attending the 2026 Milan Cortina Paralympics.

As a professional pilot major, 17c��ҳ�� junior Ashanti Mallit's immediate goal is to earn her instrument rating. She's one review flight away from completing the practical portion of her instrument check ride, having already passed the oral examination.

The 17c��ҳ�� Mock Trial Team has only six months to learn about a fictional case before acting it out during its competition season. The team will head to Penn State University in mid-February to compete in the Regional Competition. These local and regional experiences provide students with the opportunity to test their skills against the best in the country while gaining a broader perspective on the legal field.

17c��ҳ��'s Martin Luther King Jr. commemoration included a panel discussion, “Keeping Joy, Faith and ‘The Dream’ Alive in Uncertain Times,” which offered thoughtful perspectives on hope, purpose and progress.

When Matilde Carboncini was walking through the streets of Florence, Italy, the summer before starting college, she stumbled upon something unexpected.
